INTERNATIONAL A2-7 Four Are Convicted In Murder of Daniel Pearl A Pakistani court has sentenced a British-born militant, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, to death for abducting and murdering Daniel Pearl, a court official announced. Mr. Omar's accomplices, Salman Saquib, Fahad Nasim and Sheikh Adil, were given life terms in jail. Mr. Pearl was researching a story on Islamic fundamentalism for the Wall Street Journal when he was kidnapped in the port city of Karachi on Jan. 23. A1 Gunman Shoots at Chirac President Jacques Chirac of France was shot at, but not harmed, during the annual Bastille Day parade by Maxime Brunerie, 25, who was wrestled to the ground by spectators before he was arrested.
