BOSTON, May 26. -- News from the Globe Camp in Arizona this week has been extremely pleasing to Bostonians who are interested in copper mining in that territory. Black Hawk is developing so well at the 400-foot level that orders have been sent to sink a perpendicular three-compartment shaft, to strike the lode at a depth of 600 feet.

Secretary Shaw, it was learned yesterday, has decided to make no further special deposits of Government money with the National Banks for the purpose of facilitating gold imports. This news was received with surprise by international bankers who had been counting on a continuance of such deposits to aid them in bringing in further large sums of gold from abroad.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 28. -- John F. Shipp of Chattanooga, Tenn., against whom contempt proceedings have been taken by the Government in connection with the lynching in Chattanooga in March, spent to-day in Birmingham. Capt. Shipp said he was not alarmed over the news from Washington, and continued:

Joe Levy, lawyer, better known as the "Duke of Essex Street," undertook to marry free all needy couples who applied to him at his office yesterday morning. In spite of the rain four couples turned up, were wedded, and each couple received a present of a family cat.
